Add Sub Navigation

In this guide we will show you how to add a Sub Navigation module to your site. The Sub Navigation module provides a way to quickly add sub page links to a page. This is useful when you have several pages under a top-level page, as you can add it to a side column to allow users to jump between pages, or when you need to duplicate the main navigation in the Footer of your site to improve your site's usability. In this example we will be adding the Sub Navigation module to the footer of the site to duplicate the main navigation, but we will also cover the options of the module so you can add it elsewhere.

Let's begin by clicking on Content in the main navigation.

Now in Content we must select the page we want to add the Sub Navigation module. In this example we will add it to the Home page so we click the pencil icon next to the Home page.

Now in the content editor, we can decide where to put the sub navigation module. We need to scroll down the page to find the footer area of the page.

As we scroll down we can see the end of the page, this is the footer of the page.

Now that we have located where we want to add the Sub Navigation module, we need to locate it in the Properties panel and add it to the page:

  1. The Sub Navigation module is located in the Text tab of the properites panel. Click to open the Text tab, and click and drag the Sub Navigation module to the footer.
  2. As you drag the module to the footer a green highlight will appear to let you know that the module can be released. Release the module here.
Now we can configure the module.

With the new Sub Navigation module selected, a single click on the module, we can edit the Properties of the module by clicking on the Properties icon in the module title bar, or by clicking on Properties in the properties panel. With the properties of the module open, we can edit the following options:

  1. Title - the title of the module that will appear on the site. Typically the Sub Navigation module title will not display in the footer so it can be left as the default, Section Navigation. If the module is in the main or side content areas of the page you may want to rename it.
  2. Depth - the number of levels down that the module should display. We set this to 1 so that it shows just the first level of links for the site. This is the same as the main navigation. If we wanted to show the subpages from the homepage we could set this to 2. All subpages off the main navigation would be shown.
  3. Start Depth - the start level or depth that will be displayed. This is left blank by default, which is the same as zero.

Click out of the Properites panel by clicking on Save, and click the Save and Publish button. If you would like to save your changes to make live later you can click the Save Changes button.

Now that we have saved our page, we can view the changes on the live site by clicking View Live Page in the save confirmaion dialog box.

On the live page we can see our new Sub Navigation module.
